Gayà: "This was a very important win"
The captain reviews the win over Getafe CF
Valencia CF defender José Luis Gayà looked at the win against Getafe CF and his game-deciding goal.
The game
“It’s a very important victory; one that was necessary. We knew it was going to come. We deserved a win, especially in the last three home games, but the ball just wouldn’t go in for us. When the results aren’t going your way, it’s normal for people to have doubts, and we understand that, but we don’t like it when people doubt our commitment. The team give everything in every game. Today, you could see that the team have a lot of grit and that, when faced with difficulties, that determination is always there. There’s still a long way to go. Victories should give us confidence.”
His goal
"It's a striker's finish; I have Hugo Duro alongside me who does that very well, and I've learned from him. When I scored, I thought that there was still a long way to go in the game and that we were going to suffer."
A turning point
“It should be a turning point. Especially since the Real Betis game, the team have improved a lot. We don't have the amount of points that we deserve, particularly in home games where we've been by far the better side in some games. That doesn't change the fact that we're down at the bottom of the table, but this team are going to fight and give everything we have to get out of there as soon as possible.”
